What is Vinyl Roulette?

Vinyl Roulette is an iPhone app that recommends records from your own collection. Connect your Discogs account, take a quick mood quiz, and get a personalized pick from the records you already own. No streaming, no algorithms pushing music you don't have.

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect my Discogs collection?

On the login screen, tap "Sign in with Discogs". A secure Discogs window opens, you authorize Vinyl Roulette, and we pull in your collection automatically. No password is ever sent to us — the connection uses OAuth.

I don't have any records in Discogs yet. What now?

You'll need a Discogs collection with at least a few records for the recommendation engine to work. Add records on the Discogs website or mobile app, then come back and refresh in the Library tab.

How does the mood quiz work?

Tap Take the Quiz on the home screen. Three quick questions about your current mood, and we'll match you with an album from your collection that fits the vibe. Spin again any time for a different pick.

The app says my collection is empty, but it isn't.

This usually means the OAuth token expired. Sign out from the home screen, then sign in with Discogs again. If the problem persists, email us.

Can I disconnect Discogs?

Yes. Tap Logout on the home screen and your OAuth tokens are removed from your iPhone immediately. You can also revoke access on the Discogs Applications page.

Is my data sold or shared?

No. We do not sell, share, or analyze your listening habits. Your Discogs tokens are stored on-device in the iOS Keychain. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Does the app work without Discogs?

No. Vinyl Roulette is specifically designed around your Discogs collection. A free Discogs account is required.
